Central Ave. <br /> Toledo, OH 43606 <br /></p><div>Many of our local youngsters who are&nbsp;lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered,&nbsp;express their sadness and frustration about being targeted and ignored.&nbsp; Many of them have been verbally assaulted and some have been physicall hurt.&nbsp; Among&nbsp;these youth, those of color do not feel like they have enough forums in which they can share their thoughts and receive support.&nbsp; We need to make a concerted effort to work with groups, like&nbsp; <a href="http://www.equalitytoledo.org">Equality Toledo</a>, that are trying to include, support, protect, and empower <u>all</u> our&nbsp;LGBT youngsters.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>On October 11th, before the public presentation, Rashad Robinson will meet with area youth from 3:30 to 4:30 P.M. at Mansion View Conference Center at 2035 Collingwood Blvd.&nbsp; Cookies and beverages will be provided. &nbsp;&nbsp;</div>  <div>&nbsp;</div><div><span class="full-image-float-left"><img src="http://hvta.squarespace.com/storage/rashad_robinson.png?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1191876721437" alt="rashad_robinson.png" style="width: 150px; height: 228px;" /></span></div><img alt="" src="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/HP_ADM%7E1/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg" />An experienced organizer, advocate and communicator, Rashad has mobilized people to engage and reform their educational and political institutions. Rashad currently serves as Senior Director of Media Programs for The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). In that role, he oversees the advocacy work of the media programs staff as they work with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocates and media professionals alike to promote fair, accurate and inclusive media coverage of the LGBT community. Before joining GLAAD, Rashad served as National Communications Director for the Right to Vote Campaign, a national collaboration of eight major civil rights organizations dedicated to ending felony disfranchisement. Rashad also served as National Field Director with the Center for Voting and Democracy. He served as lead organizer for the 2003 Claim Democracy Conference, which featured national civil rights leaders, presidential candidates and congressional leaders. Rashad has been a featured spokesperson on an array of issues in print, radio and television, and in 2004 he appeared as the youngest contestant on Showtime's political reality series American Candidate. A graduate of Marymount University in Arlington, VA, Rashad was a Politics major with a minor in History and Communications. He is also a graduate of the SPIN Project Media Academy in Petaluma, CA.
